Unfortunately i came a little late for the survey, but i can express my opinion here in the comments. First i must say that i love Exposure's interface so much and i would like to see it the same at every newest version(adding features and tools is not a problem, but a complete change it is). I must say that generally i am happy to use Exposure and all those tools and functionality it has to offer except something, and for this reason i have to use Luminar 4 also. Luminar has a complete line of portrait tools dedicated for retouching faces where i can't find in Exposure unfortunately. Those portrait tools i use a lot and most of the time when i edit human faces, but i am also looking forward to the future versions of Exposure for those tools to be implemented(Those that already exist in Exposure now are not acceptable). Thank you!

Thanks for commenting, Claudius. Some of the features you mentioned are on their way. I've added notes for the design team about your suggestions. There are ways to customize the workspace that may help it work for the size of your screen.

There is a midtones slider on the Tone Curve panel, but not in the Basic panel.

I'm using Exposure X5 trial for four weeks now and I'm very impressed by the speed of the image browser. Compared to other RAW Editors like ON1 Photo RAW, this browser is super fast. What I'm missing is a soft proof with ICC profile and a midtones slider (could not find one) in the basic panel. Exposure should also change the size of the panels and make them a bit smaller because even on my 27 inch iMac it takes up too much space. While the browser is very speedy, making adjustments in the editor should be more in real time. All in all I'm very impressed by this software and I think it has a lot of potential. Lastly: it would be great if Expression would offer a crossgrade for owners similar apps like ON1 or Lightroom. I think I would switch hoping that more features (some of them I mentioned) would be coming in the near future.

Thanks for commenting, David. Sorry to hear you've experienced some slowness. If someone reports trouble like this it is usually with a 5k iMac. It can also be susceptible to bottlenecks like external drive connections. A useful change to make it quicker is to set Exposure to run in low res mode. Here is how.

Go to the Applications folder and right-click Exposure X5.
Select "Get Info."
Check the box for "Open in Low Resolution."
See if Exposure is more responsive.

The user interface on X5 is great. Easy to use and navigate... way way ahead of others. I love working with the program and still learning after just a few weeks with it. I have/use about 6 other photo editing programs, but X5 is now my #1. If I could recommend one area of improvement, it would be Culling speed. Browsing through folders containing hundreds of images tends to bog down my new Mac with 40gigs of me memory. Consequently, I rely on Photo Mechanic for culling and rating, then back to X5 for editing. Otherwise, I’m very happy with X5, BlowUp and Snap Art. Amazing software.

I downloaded the trial and fell in love with Exposure X5. I have Protools..Luminar 3...ON1 Photo Raw...Corel AfterShot Pro. Exposure is by far the most comfortable to use and the best workflow of any of those. My hunt for the best editor is over. Many Thanks!
