The requirements for Snap Art 4 say "Apple Mac users need OS X Mountain Lion (10.8) or later"
I have 10.6.8, so I just spent an hour in one of those upgrade loops... if I upgrade to get the plug-in, this old app won't work and I'll have to upgrade that too... I didn't see anywhere on your website that "OS X 10.6 will work just fine as long as you have an Intel Core 2 Duo processor or newer." If you had that on there, I wouldn't have wasted an hour or more! Please add if it's not there already!

In reply to C. Russell.

This is something that we are aware of. When I responded to your initial forum post on the Adobe forums, I was not 100% accurate. Eye Candy 7 does support the 32-bit Carbon API. Fireworks and Elements are both Carbon apps. However plug-in support for Fireworks is not near as good as the plug-in support for Elements. The plug-in API in Fireworks needs to be updated and improved before Fireworks will work with Eye Candy 7.

I completely understand your frustration, and if you would like a refund, I would be more than happy to process it for you. Just email me at Support@alienskin.com. There, I can process your request. Again, I apologize for the trouble, and wish there was more we could do to resolve this issue for you. I will be posting this same response on the Adobe forum where we initially connected.

In regards to Eye Candy 6, If you submit a support ticket as mentioned above, and I will do everything I can to get you up and running in Fireworks with Eye Candy 6.

Question: Are you running Windows or Mac?

Why would I not be warned that the new copy of Alien Skin Eye Candy 6 would be replaced almost immediately with 7, which does not work in Fireworks? So basically that's just wasted money.

Whatever the backstory, clearly there are many people who use Fireworks with Eye Candy and are now stranded. You guys really need to clear that up. We bought your soup, you started us with a spoon then switched us to to a fork and are now like, oh well too bad, blame Adobe, no more spoons, dunno what you gonna do. Unhelpful, unfair. #annoyed #bossispissed

Eye Candy 6 is no longer for sale. The only version currently available is Eye Candy 7. The compatibility issues are due to certain programming "stuff" still in Fireworks, which are outdated. If they ever update it, Eye Candy 7 will likely work in Fireworks again. This is also the reason why Fireworks is still a 32bit application. The best thing to do is email Adobe and request the change. I'm sure if enough people ask for it, the more likely they are to update it.

I just bought the upgrade. Many thanks for the Valentine's Day sale. One question though. Will any elements of Xenofex return (mosaic, burnt edges, etc.) or are you going strictly photographic? I have FIlter Forge, so it's not a great loss, but it would be nice to see some of Alien Skin's original effects return in a modernized, classic set.

In reply to Gerry Genson.

I completely understand your disappointment with the lack of Fireworks support. Due to the multiple changes made by Adobe, it has become prohibitively difficult to maintain Fireworks compatibility. For this reason we had to drop support for this program. As I have mentioned in a few other responses, if you are using Windows, you may still be able to use it in Fireworks with the 32-bit version of Eye Candy. You will need to perform a custom install of Eye Candy 7 into a custom folder as per our custom install article. Once you do this, you can point Fireworks to that directory. Just open your Fireworks preferences and choose the Plug-ins option.
There you will have an option for Photoshop plug-ins.

I am deeply disappointed in Eye Candy 7's lack of support for Adobe Fireworks. I would never have purchased the upgrade if I had known. Although I have Photoshop, I use Fireworks almost exclusively over Photoshop because of my familiarity with the program. Fireworks uses the Photoshop plugin for Eye candy 5 with no issues. What is the problem with Eye Candy 7?

Officially it only works with Photoshop. Some people have had success using it in the Windows version of Fireworks, but we will not be able to support any issues that may arise. I would recommend download the demo and trying it out first.

Officially Eye Candy does not support Fireworks. If you are using Windows, you can try installing the 32bit version by performing a custom installation.
