Hello Jimmy..
I don't know why I haven't used your software before as I have tried most of the others ,, I have been looking for a LR alternative / lookalike for easy transition.. Here comes the question..
I use the clone tool a lot for the work I do but find Exposure 5 a little clumsy to use with the highlighted edges to the clone areas, not great for fine detail.. Maybe I'm not using it correctly,, is there a detailed tutorial? Otherwise it fits the bill..

Not officially, no. Exposure X5 is only compatible with Photoshop Elements 15 and newer. It will require a custom install. Our support team can step you through the process, if you're interested. Here is a <a href="https://support.exposure.software/hc/en-us/requests/new" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow">link</a> to open a ticket.

Thanks for commenting, Rich. There are a couple of bottlenecks that could cause delay when applying edits to your images. Typically any sluggishness when Exposure is first installed happens during the construction of a pre-render cache. This can take some time and will affect performance initially. It will depend on the number of images in the folders you're accessing and the location where they are saved. After the cache is built, the performance should be much better.

Hi, Jimmy:
I just purchased the upgrade to ExposureX5. I'm experimenting with settings to speed up the rendering while applying any effect while developing. Are there any tips you might provide to accomplish this? I'm running an iMac with the latest OS and 32 gigs of RAM. Video RAM is 8 gigs.

Thanks...

Currently a very proud user of Exposer X4! Would very much like to take control of my pro printers from the print module in the near future, i.e. to be manage output colors by choosing specific ICC via ColorSync like Adobe products, ON1, and even Apple Preview allow it already. That would make the software complete, because apart from that everthing is already pretty amazing! Thanks ; )

Thanks for commenting. There isn't much restriction on the size of TIFF files. So, you would be able to work with up to a 25,000 by 25,000 pixel image. However, that is enormous and will likely cause any computer system to run very slow. I suggest giving the <a href="https://exposure.software/trial/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">free demo</a> a try for editing huge shots.

I think this is all Exposure needs, be able to display MP4 and organize them with Exposure's DAM features but I would think that taking advantage of what is already there is a better approach, instead of making features that might not be used a lot and might be too basic for anything else, I would think that sending the file or files to different video editors would be just better. For example, the one I use is BMD Davinci Resolve, and since it got Fusion integrated on Davinci 15, it supports python and Lua for scripting and reading about it, it would allow to add media to media pool and such, someone mentioned AppendToTimeline() and CreateTimelineFromClips(). Also there is the make a basic editor with some exporter for mp4 and XML/AAF/EDL exporter or something so it can be loaded on any video editor that supports it but that still sounds like too much for what I think Exposure should focus on, since it would take years for Exposure to catch up with video editors that have been in the industry for years, Resolve can be gotten even for free and it is used in Hollywood and has fairlight integrated and Fusion.

This is what I would suggest to Exposure team. You do great photography software and I am sure you will keep doing great things! I love these new features in X5, now I hope you can bring compositing and such, green screen keying and such. But I still think these features that are making to X5 release are greatly needed and are good to see!

Thank you for all your work! have a great day Exposure team and you Jimmy.

Hi Jerry - Yes, I know exactly what you mean. That functionality is built in Exposure. It's called Solo Mode. Enabling it will only allow for a single panel to be open at a time. Simply right-click in the lower right quadrant where the panels are listed and select Solo Mode from the list. Attached is a screenshot. <img src="https://exposure.software/site/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/SoloMode-Screen.jpg" alt="Solo Mode UI Screenshot" />

Hi. In the edit mode, It would be an improvement to collapse other modules that are not in use in order to focus on a module currently being used. I've seen this in other applications but don't recall immediately which one. For example, if working in the 'Basic' module, then automatically collapse (close) the other modules which are not being used for the moment. Currently if six modules are opening one has to continually scroll up and down through the right side list of open modules and all their options. There should be an option to automatically collapse modules that are not in use for the moment. If such option does exist, my apology as I have not spotted it.

Thanks for the info, Jerry. Introducing basic functionality for video files like displaying a clip thumbnail, or previewing the file is what we're considering to add in a future version of Exposure, but not Exposure X5. We have heard requests for additional video features such as trim, join, split, etc, but we haven't committed to making any of them.

Thanks for your continued interest, Nathan. We have integrating that new functionality high on our priority list, but it's not going to make it into the Exposure X5 release.
