Exposure X2 is coming soon!
It’s the follow up to Exposure X, our award-winning RAW photo editor and organizer. Over the years, Exposure has grown into a tool that can handle your entire photography workflow. It provides fast photo organization, robust color grading, and gorgeous special effects, without the need for complicated catalogs or slow imports.
Our development team is busy making the improvements that will make Exposure even better. To give you a sneak peek into these improvements, we’re releasing a series of short videos every few weeks until the product is released. In each, we’ll tell you about one of the exciting improvements in Exposure X2.
Exposure X2 ships this fall. If you can’t wait until then, we’ve still got you covered: if you buy Exposure X on or after June 16th, we’ll send you an upgrade to Exposure X2 for free when it ships!
I purchased Exposure Bundle on July 14, 2016! Is there no free upgrade for me?
Thanks for ordering Exposure! We’re going to be amending the upgrade cutoff date. Our official policy is to provide free updates if you purchased the software within 90 days of the update. This will put you well in the range at release so we’ll get an update out to you.

Thank you so much! I’m really enjoying Exposure.
Glad to hear it!
So because I already purchased ExposureX I do not get the upgrade. Thanks.
I bought this product a week and a half ago unbeknown to me that there was an upcoming update so soon. Is there any possibility to include me in the free update?
Glad to hear it! I hope you’re enjoying Exposure. We are amending the upgrade cutoff date to 90 days from the release. That will put you in the free upgrade window.
Hallo Finley,
that’s really great! I have purchased Exposure X on the 17th of this month. I have purchased it without any Bonus for the full price at 199,-.
Do I have to pay for the update this fall, really?
Greetings from Germany
Michael
Hi Michael! We’re excited about the release and we’re glad to hear that you are, too. We are amending our upgrade cutoff date. Now it’s 90 days from the release date. You should be well within that range for a free upgrade when they’re sent out.
Seems like I just upgraded to Exposure X just a few months ago. Now what will Exposure X2 cost me?
Hi Mark! Since you have a copy of the current version, you can purchase the new version using the upgrade price.
First off where is support for Fuji X pro 2 in my few month old exposure X and am I entitled to a free upgrade? Mt program is a few months old
Hi Elliot! The X-Pro 2 is on the roadmap for the next version of Exposure.
It looks like you purchased in March, which is outside of our 90-day free upgrade window.
Does this also mean the X70 will not be supported in X2? If so, what would the timeline look like, another year?
Thanks
Hi Jeff,
We don’t have Fujifilm’s X70 on the X2 list at this time. Can you supply us with example images to test with?
I understand the upgrade policy.
Deals have to start and end somewhere.
What I think is quite wrong is that the Fuji X pro 2 came out in January 2016 and for you not to have had an upgrade to include new cameras I find outrageous
I have been sitting here with software that I bought in March and a camera I bought in June and I wrongly assumed you were supporting it like so many others software manufacturers have. Lightroom, Photoshop, Photoninja, Iriidient, and others.
When I bought it I was shooting the Fuji Xt1. You supported that camera which was several years old.
I like your software a lot and with the XT1 I was making it my primary program, but now have to really consider your inability to keep up to date by adding support for cameras that have been in the market for over six months. I guess for now I can shelve your software in favor of others that I can rely upon to support my gear.
great so if I purchased my Exposure-X on June 8, will that be within the 90-days cut off? When are you releasing X2?
Angela
We haven’t set an official date for the release of Exposure X2, however any purchases made on June 16th or later will get free upgrades.
I just bought Exposure in April. 90 days? It should be a year. I assure you if Im asked to pay again, that’s the last dime I’ll spend with Alien Skin.
You can easily make adjustments on the basic panel, then add coloring effects using Exposure’s library of presets on a new layer. Check out how in this video.
So getting it on June 8 means I don’t get the free upgrade no matter what :(
I bought Mt software June 9th. Will I be able to upgrade for free?
No, unfortunately not. Only purchases made on June 16th or later will get free upgrades.
Hi,
HDR merge it is possible with this product?
No, Exposure X2 does not have tools for merging HDR photos.
Thanks,
It is not in this case a useful tool for me
Ouch! So that means I would have to pay for an upgrade. As I purchased Exposure X May 4th 2016. Very happy with Exposure too, use it all the time now.
Shame you don’t offer free upgrades, within reason of course. Looks good the healing tool.
Also bought mine on June 8th 2016, but I guess there will always be someone who just bought before the cutoff date. While I understand that Alien Skin needs to get sales to keep developing great software, I’m hoping you would provide a limited time upgrade offer for us on the other side of the cutoff date.
Will the B & W film effects be fixed in v2? They are way different than exposure 7 so I have to still use 7, kind of frustrating.
Hi John,
What do you mean by ‘fixed’? What behavior are you seeing?
As an example, the B & W T-Max 100 look dramatically different, EX7 is the look that I prefer but in looks more like blown out whites.
Hi John!
Exposure X2 won’t have any changes to that part of the product. It will render effects similar to version X.
So based on the responses to the above comments by after the June 16th deadline i will qualify for the free upgrade. I am just getting started with the Exposure X bundle and watching the tutorials. I can say that i like the fact that i don’t have to import into the package and the simplicity of editing. Is there a tip for adjusting white balance.
Hi John,
Use the eyedropper tool (next to the Temp and Tint sliders in the Basic panel) to automatically set white balance based on a sample area that you designate in the image. If needed, you can further adjust with the Temp and Tint sliders.
Thank you Jimmy, I also enjoy the tutorial videos, and I am excited for the release of X2.
No problem, John! Glad to hear it.
Is there a list of new features or changes made to the Exposure X2?
We haven’t released a full list of features, yet. Finley will be sharing more updates about new features over the next few weeks. Stay tuned!
Hi Jimmy – Do you fix any official release date for this? I would like to be notified about the release.
Hi Karl,
We haven’t released an official date just yet. You can keep an eye on the blog, or subscribe to our newsletter to hear the latest. I’ve added your email to the newsletter list, so you’ll just have to confirm that you want to be part of it. You should have an email from us asking for a confirmation.
Thank you for adding me in mailing list.
no problem
Feature request: a gradient filter would be very nice for skys etc! :)
That’s a good idea, Carl. I’ll make sure the dev team knows about it.
Hi Jimmy,
I am in the process of looking at and writing about which image editing software supports raw files from Fujifilm’s X-Pro2 and soon-to-arrive X-T2 cameras. What is the story regarding your support in the standalone of the latest Fujifilm cameras? Will you have support built-in, or are you dependent on Apple finally getting around to supporting the X-Pro2 and hopefully soon the X-T2?
Many thanks in advance for any insight you can provide!
Hi Karin!
I can confirm that Exposure X2 will support the Fujifilm X-Pro 2. We do not have images taken with the new X-T2 to test with, so that model is not on the supported list. With any unsupported camera model, we’re happy to investigate files and see what we need to do to support them. We just need a few to get us started. If you have any, please send them our way. Thanks!
Hi Jimmy,
Many thanks for that information. Glad you will be supporting the X-Pro2. Have been testing a few image editing and raw conversion applications the last few days and quite a few still not supporting it so far, or not supporting it fully or well enough.
I am attending an X-T2 launch event August 10. So far I have not been informed whether there will be hands-on opportunities with the X-T2 or whether the firmware on them will be advanced enough to permit shooting raw files, but will do my best and send you samples if possible. Fingers crossed!
No problem at all, Karin.
X-T2 launch — YES! We’d love to get our hands on some RAWs taken with it. That’s exciting. Thanks for thinking of us.
Hi Jimmy,
I bought Exposure X. my computer broke and I got another computer, When install X in the new computer, the program doesn’t give me a chance to upgrade only runs on trial mode. Please help
Hi Simon — I just reset your activations on my side of things. Give it another try. It should work now.
Hi,
I am running the trial version and pretty much decided I will purchase. My only question is will Exposure X2 support hdpi screens? The GUI in X has very small text on my Surfacebook.
Thanks
Hi Steve!
Glad to hear that you’re enjoying Exposure. Exposure X doesn’t not currently support ultra high DPI systems on Windows. There is a solution for smaller screens, but it takes a little technical know-how to make happen. Our helpdesk can step you through the process. Just fill out a support ticket, here.
Hi
How much longer must we wait for Exposure X2?
: )
Not long now, Paul! :)
Will there be raw support for Fuji X-T2 in Exposure X2??
Thank you!
Hi Deannie,
The Fuji X-T2 isn’t on the RAW support list for Exposure X2 at this time. The development team is always working to add new models, so if it’s not supported now, it may be in the future. Here’s a link to the list of supported cameras. http://www.alienskin.com/exposure/raw-support/
Hello,
I’ve been really looking forward to this – as an Xpro2 user I had to shelve Exposure for quite a long time!
I’ve downloaded the trial version of X2 – but it’s still saying my camera model is unsupported.
Hi Simon,
The Fuji XPro2 isn’t on the list of supported RAW formats for Exposure X2, unfortunately. The development team is working to support more camera models, so it’s just a matter of time. Here’s a link to the list for reference. http://www.alienskin.com/exposure/raw-support/
But you said in comments above that it would be supported. Which is why I downloaded the trail.
Any chance of a free trial when you finally do support the xpro2 – I feel I’ve wasted this one?
Hi Simon! Actually, you’re right. My mistake. It turns out that the Fuji XPro2 is a supported camera in Exposure X2, so you shouldn’t be seeing issues. The RAW support webpage hasn’t been updated just yet, but it will be soon. Let’s have you reach out to the helpdesk and we’ll take a look at the files that you’re having issues with.
HI Jimmy,
I would like to try Exposure2 but time is a big issue at he moment. Designing albums and sending them off for printing so they arrive before christmas, just as most wedding photographers have to do at this time.
For how long is the trial period? It says “These trials are fully functional for a limited time” on your Trials page.
Hi Binpin,
The trial versions of our software products last for 30 days.
