Exposure X4’s new transform tools are a great way to correct for lens perspective and keystone distortion in your images. This new functionality enables you to correct tilted or skewed perspectives easily.
Watch this video to see Exposure’s new transform tools in action. We’ll show you how to quickly correct a keystoning effect, which typically happens when you shoot upward at a tall building. By the end, you’ll see how Exposure makes optical distortion easy to fix by giving you tons of control over image perspective, scale, position, and more.
Yes its a nice edition. but, still addition of an auto correction as effective as Lightroom have would save as a lot of time…
Thanks for the suggestion, Christian. I’ll make a note about automatic perspective correction in our request log. That will get the design team’s attention as they plan features for future versions.
This is an excellent addition to the functionality of the application, I have been using a similar thing from DxO but with this I will ditched DxO completely when I upgrade from Exposure X3 to Exposure X4 — any timeline for release of X3?
It’s great to hear that Exposure X4 will make your post-processing workflow simpler. We’re excited for the Exposure X4 release, but we haven’t made announcements about the date. When the release is available, we’ll post about it here on the blog and in social media.
Great to see!!! I shoot mostly architecture and one of the key reason I’m sticking with an old version of Lightroom is the auto correction. Not perfect but gets me close. Keen to try X4 and this addition definitely nudges me closer
Thanks for the comment, Jack! When Exposure X4 is available, give the free demo a try.
Super. I will edit all the photographs in my next e-book with Alien Skin
That would be great! Keep us posted on that, Rajiv.
I have X4 and there is no transform option???
Likely the Transform panel has been hidden. You can right click on the left doc and select ‘Show All’ from the menu. That should fix it. Also, check out this video, which shows demonstrates methods for customizing Exposure’s UI.
What if I still need to crop the photo after using the transform tool? I need to crop (free size) but when I try that the changes I’ve made using the transporm tool disappear. Very frustrating!
Thanks for commenting. The effects from the Transform panel will be reapplied when you close the Crop tool, but I see what you mean. In Exposure X4, you are not able to perform those operations in either order.
Performing them in either order is on our radar for a future version of Exposure, so I will add notes about your interest for the design team in our logs about it.
I frankly don’t like how the crop and transformation tools don’t work together. I’ve been editing shots of artwork and old documents and found it frankly not great. For me the best method is how it’s done in LR and Capture One Pro, with the lines to be drawn along the four straight lines in the shot.
Thanks for the feedback, Marielene. I’ll make sure the design team hear your comments about the crop and transform tool behavior in Exposure.
