Exposure includes presets that enable you to quickly develop scanned negatives. You have complete control over the process, both when you are developing color or black and white images. You can customize how your negatives are inverted using Exposure’s robust selection of editing tools. For example, you can rescue detail from dark shadows, or pull back highlights, and you can save any of the modifications you make as a new preset for use in the future.
Watch this tutorial and see how to invert and develop scans of negative images in Exposure. We’ll show you how to fine-tune the inversion process to make your photos pop, how you can create your own negative presets, and more.
Hey Jimmy, I just got bought an Exposure X4 bundle. I’ve been shooting and developing 35mm film recently and noticed a few presets for B&W negative conversions already exist in Exposure, but I didn’t see any for color film stock. Are there any plans to develop more presets for converting color negatives within Exposure X4? You guys do a great job with film stock simulation for digital so I think applying that to presets to convert the negatives of those same film stocks should be doable. Thanks for all the great video tutorials.
Thanks for commenting, Eliot. That’s an interesting suggestion. We would first need example images to create effects like that for internal testing and evaluation. Would you be interested in submitting some photos for that purpose? If so, let’s get you on contact with our support team.
What were the steps for developing the color photos?
Developing color negatives is a very similar process to editing color photos. There are some differences to the workflow because the image values are inverted. Check out our Color Toning video, which demonstrates how to control image colors in Exposure.
