We are excited to present Exposure X!
Exposure X streamlines the practical side of photography in addition to the creative side. Now you can rapidly browse, organize, and batch edit to fly through huge photo sets. Exposure’s strength is simplicity. We got rid of burdensome concepts like catalog files and user interface modules.
You’ll love the new photo editing features, whether you use Exposure X as a complete stand-alone application or plug-in. Use brushing to apply local changes or stack effects. Work faster with new shortcut keys and a configurable user interface. Get creative with new and improved presets in the Bokeh category.
Visit the Exposure web page for video tutorials, a complete list of what’s new, and to try Exposure X for yourself!
Nice Job on Exposure X! You fixed that one annoying issue where accidently hovering a present changed the image without switching right back Perfect!
The only other UI gotcha I noticed was using the arrow keys to navigate through presets seems to be disabled, Is this by design? Otherwise a wonderful upgrade.
Hi Tom!
Oh yes, the arrow keys were assigned to navigating through images. Now the < and > keys will navigate through the presets.
There are plenty of keyboard shortcuts for this version. Here’s a link to the keyboard shortcut cheat sheet.
All the leadup emails about X said v7 purchasers would be getting a free upgrade on launch – is that still the case?
Hi Matt,
Yes, those that purchased version 7 were sent a free upgrade to Exposure X. You should have received an email from us with your new license code. Sometimes these emails are grabbed as spam, so I’d check your spam folder just to be sure. If you don’t have it, fill out a ticket at the helpdesk and we’ll find it for you, no problem.
I didn’t receive an email with the upgrade. I’m guessing it’s only an option for those who bought the full version. I’ve been buying/upgrading since version 4.
Hi Dave,
That shouldn’t be the case. If you paid for the upgrade to 7, you should get the upgrade to X for free. We’re happy to look into it for you. Just reach out to the helpdesk. Here’s a link to make a new ticket.
Congratulations on yet another quality update! My question is; when you hover over a layer marker the mask becomes visible. Is there a way to keep the mask visible all the time during the editing process with the brush tool? This would be very helpful for fine tuning an edit.
Hi Vince,
There isn’t a show mask button in Exposure X. Right now, the only way to display them is by strategic cursor hovering. It’s a good idea, though. I’ll make sure to share it with the programming team.
Looks nice! What happened with the naming convention? What happened with Ex8 and 9??
Nice work.
The ‘X’ symbolizes Exposure’s new capabilities as an organizing and editing tool that can handle your entire workflow.
White balance and PSD-support please
Thank you so much Exposure X is a real upgrade love it
Thank you for the free upgrade peeps, just a quick question – do I delete Exposure 7 when I’ve finished installing X? Thanks in advance :)
Hi Marie-Claire,
You can get rid of the old version if you’d like to. We’ve made up some simple tutorials to step you through the process. Here are links to uninstalling on the Mac and on the PC.
Excellent product, thank you! A built-in and easy way to add watermark (text or/and picture) would be nice.
It’s pretty easy to add a watermark using the Overlay feature. See how it works in our Custom Overlays video tutorial.
I didn’t get any notification other than Exposure X newsletter. Nothing mention about an upgrade, whether paid or free.
I’m sorry to hear that, Alan. Sometimes our emails are caught in spam filters. Maybe the announcement email went there.
In a nutshell, If you purchased a copy of Exposure 7, you should have already received a copy of X. I can’t find the email you used for this comment in the database, so that would explain why you didn’t get an upgrade email. If you bought a copy of Exposure 7, reach out to the help desk with the license code and we’ll take care of you.
I never received the update link. I purchased 6, and received the update for 7. Is there a “check for update” option? I would love the updated version.
Hi Stacy,
Free upgrades were given to anyone who purchased version 7. Because you received a free upgrade to Exposure 7, you aren’t eligible to receive a free upgrade to Exposure X, but you can purchase an upgrade from our store.
It really is a pity that you have not produced a complete product here. Having no way to print except by saving a file as a tiff and then using another application to print is rather a cop-out. In fact the more I think about it, it is downright ridiculous. A bit like selling a phone without a loudspeaker or television without a screen. That is be as creative as you want with content but be-dammed if anyone can view it.
When I buy a piece of software such as this, to use as a standalone product I expect it to provide all the services that would be expected of such as printing. I have a very good mind to ask for my money back.
Surely a menu option could have been provided at the very least.
Andrew
Hi Andrew,
Thank you for the feedback.
All modern printers will have capable print utilities. The best path for printing is to export your image for print as a Tiff and do all the page setup and printing with your print utility. Again, we appreciate your feedback, and take it seriously. Your suggestion to include printing features has been added the ongoing development log. Be on the lookout for it in a future version.
Hi Jimmy,
I purchased 7 but never got an upgrade, how can i upgrade?
Thanks,
Darragh
Hi Darragh,
I’d reach out to the helpdesk with your current license code. They’ll help you get it sorted out.
Who is the girl in the above picture? She looks beatuiful :D
