Are there any new features that you’d like to see in future releases of Exposure? Now is your chance to tell us!
We’ve created a brief survey that helps us better understand your editing needs and photography background. It also gives you a chance to tell us what you’d like to see in future versions of Exposure.
For Exposure X3, we added features like collections, virtual copies, gradient tools, and watermarks in response to user requests, so it’s definitely worth participating.
Thanks for helping us continue to make Exposure the fastest way to bring your creative vision to life!
You are amazing company! it is nice that you release these kind of surveys and listen to the costumers.
I hope you are planning on giving Affinity Photo some improvements on the compatibility side. not like it is too important, but I have been testing Photo just because it is a cheaper Adobe alternative, but whenever I edit a layer with an Alien Skin plugin, it just completely crashes.
I tested another plugin from other company and it worked. so it would be great to be able to use Alien Skin software/plugins whenever I want to use a full image editor like Affinity Photo if I make the switch, you know, to combine photos with different Exposure presets and snap art and use mask and all that fast and easy. Of course, reading the survey, I hope Exposure will be soon all I need for most photos I experiment with.
But for now, only Photoshop etc, can achieve the art of photos I try to make.
Thank you and good luck! can’t wait for Exposure X3.5!
Hi Emi – thanks for commenting. Unfortunately there’s not much that we can do to speed up support of Affinity Photo. Exposure is 100% compatible with Photoshop, so any compatibility issues fall on the Affinity side. Even though it’s not officially supported, you can still use Affinity Photo as an external editor from Exposure, which will allow you to use the programs together. This does not allow you to render Exposure effects on separate layers in Affinity Photo like you would Photoshop, though.
Yeah, I noticed the problem is how Alien Skin plugins try to create a new layer with the changes, and how affinity doesn’t seem to. so for the moment that would be the work around, have different files and combine them in Affinity Photo if I want to use them like I do in Photoshop. not a bad thing, but it will be nice the day your plugin work there for faster and easier workflow inside that program.
I’m still using Photoshop, since I can use your plugins and smart filters which I use often. But I can’t wait the day where I can do most of the stuff inside Exposure X3.5 or X4 for sure and I won’t need Photoshop for most stuff.
We would love to speed up the process of adding support of Affinity Photo. The compatibility issues are fixable from the Affinity side, so there’s not much we can do. If enough users request Exposure support in Affinity Photo, they might consider making changes. Have you reached out to them about adding it?
Well on their forums they say they will improve compatibility more. hopefully soon, Alien Skin costumers deserve it. they are aware of it. at least in a recent thread they said it was kind of on their hands to make them more compatible, instead of saying that you should do it.
Affinity Software it is still just a test for now anyway, so I might really use it when I can properly use your software/plugins on it, because I love what you have done in the past years.
Like I said, I can’t wait for X3.5 or X4 next year! have really good holidays!
Hey guys! I came across this feed while searching for Alien Skin future updates on google. I have a burning question and would love to hear you thoughts. I’m really impressed how far you guys have come. I’m a studio shooter and rack up around 2/3 shoots a day 5/7 days a week so my turn around is pretty intense. over this Christmas period I’m giving myself the change to review my work flow and I’m always jumping between LR and Capture One and recently X3! What I’m hoping to do is settle with X3 for good because I’m really getting into it however … drum roll!! It all comes down to Tethered capturing for me thats keeping Lightroom and Cap1 open. Is this in your future? Do you plan on moving forward with this? Even a hot folder? A hot folder where you can auto slap on a preset and view the latest photo that pops in. I mean that really would be ace because then I see no reason for LR or Cap1 in my opinion. Let me know your thoughts, many thanks
Hi Kim,
Thanks for commenting and for your interest in Exposure. Tethered shooting abilities is something that we have on our roadmap for a future version of Exposure. I also like your idea of having a folder that would allow rendering presets to be assigned during the transfer from card to computer. I think those are two separate features, so I’ll include those details in a feature request write up for the design team.
Exactly this please. Tethered shooting with a comparable speed to Capture One and I’m in. I don’t want to need multiple software options so as soon as you have this working well I’m ready to jump over.
Thanks for the suggestion, Ed. I’ll make sure the design team hears your request. I’ll add a note to our feedback logs. Do you mind if I email you to talk about your expectations in a little more detail?
Also!! I’m on a roll here…
If you can get TouchBar support for the new Macs up and running before the LR gang then you are on to a winner IMHO! The ability to adjust sliders etc with be a dream! To be honest I’m really surprised LR hasn’t done this yet. If this isn’t something you plan on doing, is Ex3 compatible with any external control surfaces currently? Let me know your thoughts,
Cheers
Hi Kim,
We have heard a few requests for support of midi controller panels in Exposure. Utilizing a MacBook Touch Bar to manipulate the controls would be similar to that. I will mention adding support of a Mac Touch Bar to the feature write up.
Since the survey was unfortunately closed, my question would be where to leave wishes for the further development of exposure.
Exposure X3 is really great and replaces my long-time Photo Organizer “Exif Pro”, which I never thought would happen.
However, there are still some essential features missing that prevent me from cancelling my Lightroom subscription.
– the possibility to position the thumbnail browser on the left oder right in fullscreen mode (Lightroom can’t either)
– a selection tool that also automatically masks the objects (very well solved in Lightroom)
– Show keywords as info directly at the pictures/thumbnails (like picture name, date etc)
– Export to Flickr, Google
Would be great if these wishes could be taken into account
Thanks for the comments, Martin.
You can customize the order and placement of Exposure’s panels, including the thumbnail Navigator. The docks on the right and left sides are divided into upper and lower sections, forming quadrants. You can move and reorder each of the control panels in Exposure into whichever quadrant you like. If you right-click on a quadrant, Exposure will list options for configuring its contents. At the bottom of the right-click menu is the Customize Panels option, which takes you to the Panels tab of Exposure’s Preferences dialog where you can make changes to the order and placement of the panels. All you need to do is drag the panel to the quadrant where you’d like to see it listed.
I’ll add notes to our feature request log regarding the other suggestions you mentioned. That will bring them to the design team’s attention as they plan future versions of Exposure.
Thanks for the quick response.
What I haven’t understood yet:
How I can place the thumbnail browser (not the navigator, but the bar with all images) left or right? It does not appear under panels.
Thanks for clarifying, Martin. The filmstrip at the bottom of the screen is not a movable component. I’ll make a note about adding the ability to relocate that panel in our feature request log. That will put it on our radar to consider adding in a future version of Exposure. It’s a good suggestion.
I’m not sure if this is the best place for a feature request but I couldn’t find a better place, so here goes:
I’ve played with Exposure 3 in the 30 day trial and am very, very impressed. However two of my cameras, one old and one new, are missing from camera support. The old is the Fuji SR2 Pro (the raw files will load but the orientation is all wrong) and the new is the Panasonic FZ1000. I would love it if Exposure 3 added support for the Fuji and Panasonic raw files!
Hi David, thanks for your comments. Yes, we are always working on adding support of new camera models. Would you be interested in submitting some RAW images from your Fujifilm SR2 Pro and Panasonic FZ1000 for us to use for internal testing and evaluation? Let’s get you in contact with our support team, if so. Here is a link to open a ticket.
1. Range masking
2. Full Affinity photo compatability (yes, I’ve read the comments)
3. CA/Fringing correction – both auto based on lens and manual
4. Soft proofing (although if you sort out (2.) it’s less of an issue)
5. Luminosity masks
i.e. I don’t really want to jump into Affinity every time to do these edit and then generate an extra TIFF – I want to be able to do it natively in X4. I’d rather just use Affinity for major edits.
Thanks for commenting and for the suggestions, Gareth. Those new features would make great additions to Exposure. We already have them on our radar. I’ll a few notes about your interest in them for our design team to consider as they plan out future versions of Exposure.
