Exposure X6 is close to being ready. We are excited about the upcoming version and all the great new features it will bring. This video demonstrates a few of the new features coming soon.
We show you how to configure auto adjustments for white balance, exposure, atmospheric haze, and more. You’ll also see how to control noise removal with the tools on the Noise Reduction panel. And we demonstrate how to recover image detail in bright highlights and dark shadows.
The release will be here soon. Keep watching this space for more news about Exposure X6!
It’s a great time to buy Exposure. Anyone who buys Exposure X5 now will automatically get a free upgrade when Exposure X6 is ready.
Will Exposure 6 work on a Mac with OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 (15G22010)
Thank you
Steve
Hi, Steve. Yes, Exposure X6 is compatible with Mac OS X El Capitan or newer.
Hi, I bought Exposure X5 earlier this year July August time which I am using on a Mac Pro with Catalina as the OS. Is there an auto upgrade for me? If not how much will it cost to upgrade as I’m getting messages to say it won’t be compatible with planned OS improvements
Thanks for commenting, Brian. Yes, you will get an upgrade free when Exposure X6 is available.
As for the messages you are receiving about Exposure X5 not being compatible. We are always working on small updates to fix possible issues caused by system changes. We either have a fix in the works right now, or we’ve already corrected the issue in the latest installers on our website.
Hi, I already own Exposure X6. Will there a free upgrade for previous owners?
Thanks for your interest, Jacobus. The free upgrade to Exposure X6 is only for recent purchasers.
watching this video theres seems to be a lag as you adjust those slider settings. will this improved when released? will we also now have an improved white borders were the pic isnt being cropped and the white borders are actually adjustable?
We’re glad to hear you are interested in Exposure X6, Richie. The video uses beta software, which has not gone through the rigorous polishing process that the release version will. In short, yes, there will be improvements to the speed over the version used to make the video.
Applying borders that don’t cover image content is on our radar. I’ll add a note about your interest in that new feature in our logs for the design team.
comming soon. you say that for month. are your company unable to give a releasde date when it´s “soon” already?
these teasing in the industry is getting annoying…
That’s understandable, Ole. As much as we want to give a solid date, we have to make sure the software backs up our claims. We want to make sure the new version is worth the wait.
For future releases, maybe you could lead with the “people who buy now will be able to upgrade free when the new version is released,” but not say anything about a time frame until a solid date is determined. I have a hard time with “soon” when I’m waiting for features that will be introduced. Just a thought.
Thanks for sharing, Steve. I’ll take your suggestions into consideration going forward. Mostly, we are just excited about the new software, and we are all looking forward to its release.
I understand excited. That’s why it’s hard to wait!
So how good is the new highlight recovery function? Is it a game changer or “just slightly improved”? :-)
Erik
Thanks for commenting, Erik. It’s tough to quantify how much better, but it is easy to see when comparing edits between versions. If you’re on the fence about upgrading, give the demo a try when Exposure X6 is available. ;)
Hi, will there be any improvement to the lightroom import process in X6?
Currently it covers only very basic settings.
Thanks for the comments, Matthias. We don’t have plans to support edits from Lightroom, but the automatic adjustments coming in Exposure X6 may help ease the pains of reediting lots of images quickly. The editing tools in Exposure are different than the controls in Lightroom even though they have the same name. For example, adding 10 to the Contrast slider in Exposure will not apply the same type or amount of contrast when applied in Lightroom. Unfortunately, that means images migrated from Lightroom will not include edits unless they are rendered files like JPEGs or TIFFs.
