Exposure X4.5 is coming soon. With it comes several feature upgrades, including a new Copy from Card dialog that makes copying images from a card or other source quicker and easier.
In the video above, we demonstrate using the new Copy from Card dialog. We show you how to visually browse images directly on your camera cards, which enables you to select which ones you want to copy, and which ones to exclude. Additionally, you will see how to organize the images you copy with Exposure’s workflow tools. Watch the video and learn how to efficiently make image selections, automatically rename files, save image backups to another drive location, apply metadata or creative presets, and more.
Stay tuned for more news about what is coming in the update. Exposure X4.5 is free for all owners of Exposure X4.
Great addition, being able to import pictures from an SD card. I have problems trying to import from a camera however. Using the Windows 10 file explorer, I can see my Nikon D500 camera, navigate to it, and see the RAW files. I can also drag them to my PC. Using the “Copy photos from card” function of Exposure X4, it can’t see my camera. Poking around that window, it eventually locks up and I have to force-quit the software. Any ideas on how to copy directly from a camera? Lightroom has no problem importing directly from the camera so I’m sure it can be done.
Thanks for commenting, Daniel. Exposure should detect the camera’s memory card when the camera is linked to your computer. I have a few things to check to see what the issue may be. Make sure your Windows computer recognizes the camera contents when you connect it to your computer. If so it should show up as an option in the Windows file explorer. If it isn’t there may be an issue with the setup of the computer or camera file sharing.
By default Exposure will detect files that the operating system says are camera cards. You can check that this is set up in the Exposure Preferences.
1. In Exposure go to Edit > Preferences.
2. In the General tab make sure the box for “Do not copy photos from camera cards” is unchecked. If it is checked, click again to uncheck it.
3. Once done connect the camera again and see if you get a prompt.
